Literacy Team (Teaches Literacy and Social Studies)
Mr. Daggs: I am excited to join 4th grade this year! I am originally from the Rochester, NY area but have been in North Carolina a little over six years. This will be my second year at Polo Ridge, having taught 3rd grade last year. I have a variety of other experiences in the field of education, most recently working as an Exceptional Children’s teacher with Union County Public Schools where I focused primarily on grades 3-5. I hold a Master’s degree in Education from Nazareth College and a Master’s degree in Special Education from St. John Fisher College, both in Rochester, NY. I currently reside in Charlotte with my family. This includes Paula who also works for CMS, Jordan who will be starting 8th grade at Community House Middle School and Davin, a sophomore at Ardrey Kell High School. Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family, working on projects around the house, reading, cheering on the Philadelphia Eagles and motorcycle riding.
Mrs. Evans: I'm so excited your child will be in my fourth grade class this school year! Some of you may know me as Miss Small, but over the summer I got married and am now Mrs. Evans! We had an amazing wedding here in Charlotte and then were lucky enough to spend almost two weeks in Jamaica! My husband, Clayton, and I have lived in Charlotte for 6 years with our two extremely spoiled dogs. Prior to living in Charlotte we lived in Naperville, Illinois where I attended North Central College. I love teaching and I'm so excited to meet my new group of fourth graders. We are going to have an awesome school year!
Mrs. Holder: Welcome to 4th grade! I am excited to be your child’s Literacy teacher! I have always had a passion for reading and I love to share this passion with the students. I love the challenge of finding the perfect book for each child! I also love teaching grammar and vocabulary! I have taught 5th grade literacy for the past three years, and prior to that I taught AIG reading and math in 4th and 5th grade. I received my degree in Early Childhood Education and Literacy from UNC-Chapel Hill and my AIG license from Wingate University. My husband and I have three kids, Harrison, a graduate of UNCC, Morgan, a senior at UNC-CH, and Liesl, a sophomore at UNC-CH. In my free time I enjoy hiking with my dogs, reading, crocheting, and gardening.
