What We Are Learning
UPDATED: 4/12/19
Math
Students have been working on geometry objectives that include identifying lines and angles.(Parallel, perpendicular, intersecting, Obtuse, Acute, Straight and Right). Students also learned about geometric terms such as lines, rays, line segments, points, vertex. Students learned to measure angles with protractors and estimate the measure of an angle. Students learned to decompose angles between 0-180 degrees and find measure of missing angles. When we return from spring break students will learn to identify triangles and quadrilaterals by their lines and angles.
Edgenuity and Education Galaxy. Students have been using them in class and this can also be used at home as support in any math area or skill.
Resources/Ideas for helping your child at home with Math
-Review homework together
-Review missed questions on tests
-If your student has questions about test questions or homework questions, have them jot them down so we can discuss them during math workshop conferences!
-Re-watch lesson videos that correspond with HW if your child is struggling with the concept
-If the Visual Learning (lesson video) isn’t helping, there is an additional video for each lesson called “Another Look”
-Pre-watch the lesson videos for the next day so the students have background knowledge going in to it!
-Look over notes and practice in math notebooks
-For extra practice, students can complete any HW or Independent Practice questions in their workbook we have not already completed in class
-Pearson enVision online resources: practice buddies, quick checks, reteaching worksheets (all found under student assignment tabs on Pearson)
-Multiplication and Division flash cards, apps, websites
Science
Students have been learning forces of motion in our physical sciences unit. Students have learned key terms such as (force, inertia, energy, gravity, friction, speed, work, kinetic and potential energy). Students will learn Newtons 3 laws of motion when we return back from spring break.
